The Syro-Ephraimite Siege of Jerusalem and the Immanuel Sign

King Rezin of Syria and King Pekah of Israel join in military alliance against Judah, marching against Jerusalem to depose King Ahaz and install the son of Tabeel; when the heart of Ahaz and the people trembles like trees in the wind, the prophet Isaiah confronts Ahaz at the conduit of the upper pool, commanding him to be quiet and not fear the two smoldering stumps of firebrands, and announcing the sign of Immanuel born of a virgin.
