Refusing Jeremiah’s prophetic plea to remain peacefully in Judah under God’s protection after Gedaliah’s murder, Johanan and the commanders take the surviving remnant, dragging Jeremiah and Baruch to Tahpanhes in Egypt, where Jeremiah buries stones at Pharaoh’s pavilion.
