When Caleb offers his daughter Achsah in marriage to whoever strikes and takes the fortified Canaanite city of Kiriath-sepher (Debir), Othniel son of Kenaz takes the stronghold; Caleb gives him Achsah as his wife, and at her request, Caleb generously grants her the upper springs and lower springs alongside her southern Negev land.
