The Golden Calf Apostasy and the Breaking of the Tablets

While Moses remains forty days atop Mount Sinai receiving the two tablets of stone, the people coerce Aaron into fashioning a molten calf from their golden rings; descending with Joshua and beholding the idolatry, Moses shatters the tablets, burns the calf, and the sons of Levi consecrate themselves by executing judgment.
