Ezra proclaims a fast at the Ahava Canal for journey mercies

Before setting out across the bandit-ridden desert with temple treasures and returning exiles, Ezra proclaims a solemn fast by the river Ahava to humble themselves before God; ashamed to ask King Artaxerxes for soldiers and cavalry because of having testified to God’s deliverance, the company prays and is safely delivered.
