Genesis 2:1 to 2:3 God gave us a day of rest to be with family, worship him, and enjoy his good world. Learn that God rested on the seventh day after finishing creation. Then God gave humanity a wonderful gift: a day of rest. The Work Is Finished After six days of speaking light, raising mountains, filling oceans, and creating animals and people, God looked around. The whole universe was complete, shining and full of joy. God did not leave anything missing. God Rests and Blesses On the seventh day, God rested from all his work. Was God tired? No! God never grows weary. He rested to enjoy what he made and to set a special pattern for us. God blessed the seventh day and made it holy. A Gift for Us God wants us to have a special day every week to stop hurrying, rest our bodies, worship him together at church, and enjoy our families. What did God do to the seventh day? He blessed it and made it holy He forgot about it He erased it He made it a rainy day He blessed it and made it holy God blessed the seventh day and set it apart as a holy day of rest. On Sunday this week, spend extra time resting: take a walk with family, put away screens for a while, and sing a worship song of thanks to God. Lord God, thank you for giving us a day of rest.
