Genesis 1:1 to 1:19 God is the powerful Creator who made our bright and beautiful world out of love. Recognize that God made the world and everything in it. Name the sun, moon, and stars as gifts from God. Thank God for making the light and the beauty of creation. At the very beginning, before there were trees, oceans, or people, only God existed. God spoke with his mighty voice, and light burst into the darkness. Light in the Darkness In the beginning, the world was empty and dark. But God was there. God spoke with his powerful voice: "Let there be light!" Instantly, warm, bright light shone into the darkness. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the day from the night. Sky and Waters Next, God formed the great blue sky above. He separated the waters above from the waters below. God called the wonderful space above the earth "sky," and the evening and morning made the second day. Green Land and Twinkling Stars Then God gathered the waters so dry land appeared. He made green grass, colorful flowers, and fruit trees with sweet apples and grapes. High above, God placed the sun to warm the day and the moon and twinkling stars to light the quiet night. The bright sun The cool moon The cold wind Dark clouds The bright sun God made the sun to give light and warmth during the day. Go outside this week, look up at the clouds or the night stars, and whisper a prayer of thanks to God for making our world so bright and good. Dear God, you are great and powerful. Thank you for making the sunshine, the blue sky, the green grass, and the twinkling stars. Help me to remember that you love me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
