Passing to the Fountain Gate near the King’s Pool, he finds the rubble heaps so severe his mount cannot pass.
Ascending by the ravine of the brook Kidron on the eastern slope beside the Water Gate, he inspects the wall under the stars.
Turning back, Nehemiah re-enters through the Valley Gate before presenting his restoration vision to the leaders.
